That’s right everyone lol. I’m really excited to be launching this!! AHH!
As you can tell, there is not much to see at the moment (lol)…but I hope this will give you an insight on what to expect in the upcoming weeks (or months).
For those of you who knew me for a long time, you would know that I’ve always wanted to do something in the creative field as a career. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Annie Law and now you know. I know to most people, I don’t strike as a person who would blog or do youtube or anything of that sort because I’m not that “social” or I’m just not like that. But if you REALLY knew me, I’ve actually made multiple youtube channels that failed. I’ve done makeup tutorials, DIY videos, vlogs, monthly favorites, comedy…and everything else that would make a person cringe (or admire, idk).
The reasons why these channels failed is because I lacked the confidence and courage to pursue it to the fullest, given my low self esteem at the time, figuring myself out, questioning if I can make a living out of it, what people thought of it…normal stuff (right?).
Well, I gave in to what people said to me, they were not targeting my passions per se, but the general phrases of “how difficult artists have it”, “youtube is SO saturated now”, “you need to be this, this, or this or you won’t be successful in life”. Since high school was such a pressing environment of conformity, falling in line behind the wannabe doctors, lawyers, businessmen, and journalists seemed right.
Hence, I tried different pursuits of mine that fit that conformity and end up actually really disliking it. Telling myself that “I should be a journalist” or “ I should be a marketing person” just didn’t work out and it made me really unhappy.
Now, you’re probably thinking that nothing should stop a person from doing what they truly love (especially high school) but for me, not only did I try different pursuits but I was neck deep invested in them. Having multiple leadership roles and the responsibilities that come with it, I just couldn’t bring myself to disregard my teams for a selfish reason.
BUT happy side 🙂 , we’re all graduates now!! High school was a fun journey and I learned a lot about who I am and what I wanted in life. I got to meet inspiring mentors, teachers, coaches, and friends that continue to inspire me even now. I’m beyond thrilled to start this new journey and it’s going to be the one with more clarity and passion and I hope you are going to join me.
