HOW TO : MATCHA LATTE

If you don’t know what matcha is, you gonna find out haha!

Matcha is green tea leaves crushed up; however, it’s not the usual green tea bags that you drink. This one has actual leaves crushed up, with all the benefits. Matcha has high amounts of caffeine which is why people that drink it only use a spoonful of it each time (like the photo above). It’s a great alternative to coffee, but it’s NOT for everyone. Some people don’t like the taste of it and others get sick. I did not get sick from it but there are those who do. Here is the list of benefits of drinking matcha, according to MatchaSource.com :

  • Is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg
  • Boosts metabolism and burns calories
  • Detoxifies effectively and naturally
  • Calms the mind and relaxes the body
  • Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll, and vitamins
  • Enhances mood and aids in concentration
  • Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
  • Prevents disease
  • Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar

Ok! Now that I have gotten your attention, let met show you how to make it.

Step 1: Buy the Matcha! You can find one at T2 which is the one I’m using. They are quite pricey so definitely buy the smaller one if you’re not comfortable spending so much.

Step 2: Get a bowl, whisk or spoon. The whisk/spoon is also from T2 for me but you can use a regular spoon to do the job.

Step 3: Use the spoon and get 1 teaspoon of the matcha like the picture above. It can be a little more if you need more caffeine. Maybe you didn’t get some sleep last night, that’s fine too!

Step 4: Put it into the small bowl. Then pour enough water to melt it away mostly. Not too much water, but enough.

Step 5: Get a whisk or spoon and start whisking the mixture in a W format and keep going until a foam starts to form like on the lower left hand photo above.

Step 6: Pour any milk that you like into a cup! I love almond milk so I used that. You can also use ice and sugar to get a cooler pouring effect. I opted out but it’s a bit chilly here in NYC and no added sugar is the best sugar haha.

Step 7: ENJOY IT! (and wash the dishes) šŸ™‚
